A Better World Is Still Possible: Labor Leaders Discuss the US Elections

State of São Paulo, Brazil - Virtual event

Dec 2 - Dec 2

11:00 - 13:00 EST

PSI Executive Board member, Jan Hochadel, AFT vice president (Connecticut) interviews PSI Regional executive member, Max Arias, Executive Director of SEIU Local 99 (California) about the US election

The webinar will critically evaluate the implications of Donald Trump’s re-election as President of the United States, situating it within the global rise of far-right and anti-democratic movements. US labor leaders from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), representing millions of workers that deliver a variety of essential public services every single day, will share their insights on the consequences for their members and the challenges presented by Trump’s return to power. They will also discuss the next steps for the US labor movement in advancing pro-working-class policies, defending democracy, and protecting trade union rights. The event will explore how PSI affiliates can join the struggle against the far-right in the US and worldwide to support our collective fight for democracy and workers’ rights.
