The Nigerian Labour Congress, Joint Action Front and Academic Staff Union of Universities protest what they call the privatization of schools in Oyo state. The government had called for expressions of interest in the “public/private partnership and ownership of schools in its bid to develop human capital founded on quality education in the state.” The bid request includes management of the schools. The secretary of the Oyo Progressive Assembly, Agboola Afees, said “we must not allow the policy to stand not as matter of political differences but to protect the poor whose access to education will become further limited by giving schools to private businesses.”
