The new governor of Mexico City pledges to end the privatization of public space.

The new governor of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, pledges to end the privatization of public space. She denounced the previous government “that was devoted to political espionage, favored crony and group interests above social rights, which used force to suppress the people and returned corruption, which led to the abandonment of public services and the return of insecurity.” Sheinbaum also announced “that privatization of sports and parks will be over and warned that all recent contracts will be reviewed in the field to take the necessary measures and if necessary recover those spaces.” [Reforma, 5 December 2018]
