The government has closed down the Francistown abattoir

The government has closed down the Francistown abattoir, once a key center for cattle processing in the country, as it plans to privatise the Botswana Meat Commission (BMC). The Public Enterprises Evaluation and Privatisation Agency is currently working on a strategy to transform BMC into a private entity. The strategy is expected to be unveiled in May.
