The electric company has raised concerns about privatization

The electric company ENEE, which is being broken up into three pieces, has raised concerns about privatization. The owner of the company, Jesús Mejía, “downplayed warnings that the process would lead to the privatization and held a meeting with the workers' union Enee STENEE to discuss the operation. The new companies should begin operating on 1 January.” Juan Carlos Sikaffy, president of the Honduran Council of Private Enterprise (COHEP), called the deal “historic.” Heide Fulton, interim charge d'affaires of the US Embassy in Tegucigalpa said in her Twitter account that “today’s agreement is an important first step.”
