‘Keep Shellharbour Hospital public’ petition hits Parliament

A petition to keep Shellharbour Hospital public hits parliament. “Earlier, Shellharbour MP Anna Watson told the NSW Parliament’s Legislative Assembly that Illawarra residents had ‘made their feelings undeniably clear. We have evidence from every corner of the community ... we all stand together and collectively reject this government’s privatization agenda,’ Ms. Watson said. ‘This is not a political issue. These are people’s lives.’” Under public pressure, the government has already shelved “shelved PPPs at Wyong, Bowral and Goulburn hospitals, with a not-for-profit being sought to build and run a new Maitland Hospital.”
