France gears up for next wave of asset sales

As France undergoes a wave of strikes and industrial actions in response to President Macron’s austerity policies and reforms—such as the conversion of the SNCF railway system to a share-issuing company (which many see as a future threat of privatization), Les Echos says a new poll shows the French have yet to be convinced of Macron’s case for privatization. “There was no public debate on this issue during the campaign, so it lacks elements of explanation to understand what Emmanuel Macron wants to do,” says Bruno Jeanbart, Deputy CEO of OpinionWay. France is reportedly gearing up for a wave of new public asset sales.
