Farmers in Puebla are rejecting plans to privatize water in the state, saying it threatens food production. “Mounted on their tractors, peasants from about a dozen communities in the state of Puebla arrived in the state capital to demand that the reform be repealed. (…) Most of them women and the elderly, the peasants walked from Parque Paseo Bravo to the State Congress, where a fence of riot police awaited them, although the mobilization of citizens [was] peaceful.”
