Privatization of public enterprises must be subject to a public debate

As the debate over privatization intensifies, the UGTT is demanding that “the restructuring of public enterprises and, where appropriate, their privatization,” must be subject to “a public debate on the benefits to be derived for the country in both cases.” A breakdown in wage negotiations between the government and the unions over a civil service pay rise led to a November 22 strike.
