Show your solidarity with the Italian public service workers going on strike
Nov 17, 2023
FP-CGIL, UIL-FPL and UIL-PA members are organizing a series of strikes against the proposed 2024 state budget, and the government's refusal to consult with unions.
FP-CGIL, UIL-FPL and UIL-PA have decided to mobilize for a change in the Budget Law and the economic and social policies of the Italian government. This mobilization includes strikes (lasting 8 hours or an entire shift) and demonstrations organized regionally to support demands outlined in joint union platforms.
As part of this mobilization, on Friday, November 17, FP CGIL, UIL FPL, and UIL PA have called for an 8-hour or full shift strike for all public service workers nationwide
The aim is to raise public awareness about the Budget Law's serious shortcomings as presented by the government. The government has not engaged in social dialogue on the law's contents and has ignored calls for change, leaving mobilization as the only means to voice workers' concerns.
Unions also urge the government and local institutions to take immediate action on issues such as wages, collective agreements, precarious work conditions, industrial policies, workplace safety, taxation, social security and pension revaluation, education, and healthcare. These actions are necessary to reduce inequalities and stimulate growth.
As part of this mobilization, on Friday, 17 November, FP CGIL, UIL FPL, and UIL PA have called for an 8-hour or full shift strike for all public service workers nationwide. The strike aims to advocate for sufficient investment in quality public services, ensure adequate staffing at all workplaces, and defend public services and their social value against the threat of privatization.
