Aug 17, 2020

On the occasion of Independence Day, 17 August, electricity sector unions in Indonesia have issued a joint press release voicing their rejection against the Omnibus Law Employment Creation Draft

Press release

Upon welcoming the Independence Day of Republic of Indonesia on August 17, unions of electricity sector launch a number of posters to voice their rejection against Omnibus Law Employment Creation Draft. The unions of electricity sector are Serikat Pekerja PLN Persero (SP PLN Persero), Persatuan Pegawai Indonesia Power (PPIP), Serikat Pekerja Pembangkit Jawa – Bali (SP PJB), Serikat Pekerja Elektronik Elektrik – FSPMI (SPEE-FSPMI), dan Federasi Serikat Buruh Kerakyatan Indonesia (Serbuk).

Therefore, in the momentum of the Independence Day, we urge the parliament to stop the omnibus law deliberation. This is to ensure that electricity as a branch of production that is important and affects peoples’ lives will stay in the State’s hands.

In addition to social media campaign, we also have put banners and billboards rejection against omnibus law in a number of spots. We want people to understand if the omnibus law is passed, people will be harmed.

The posters launched by unions of electricity sector are, among others:
