With the goal of raising the profile of fracking in the COP21 global climate negotiations, the Food & Water Watch is planning a social media storm to take over the “#COP21” hashtag on Thursday, December 10. Public Services International is supporting this initiative, so please join us in sending Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram messages that include both the #COP21 hashtag and the #BanFrackingNow hashtag.
On Dec 10, those of us in Paris at the “Global Anti-fracking Summit: Not Here, Not Anywhere,” will be tweeting up a frenzy but to have a great impact, we’ll need all global fracktivists to amplify this message—from Kimberley, Australia to Vaca Muerta, Argentina; from Lancashire, U.K. to the Karoo in South Africa; and from the Elispogtog First Nation in New Brunswick, Canada all the way to Denton, Texas, USA—we need everyone!
Here are some sample tweets:
English:
Climate leaders don’t frack! #BanFrackingNow at the #COP21 @POTUS @JerryBrownGov
Fracking=climate change #BanFrackingNow at the #COP21 #KeepItIntheGround
Keep Fossil Fuels in the Ground #BanFrackingNow at the #COP21 #GlobalFrackdown
Français:
Fracking = Péril climatique #BanFrackingNow at the #COP21
Fracking: Non, Renouvelables: Oui #BanFrackingNow at the #COP21
Español:
Fracking=cambio climático #Noalfracking en la #COP21 #BanFrackingNow
Dejad los combustibles fósiles en el subsuelo #NoalFracking en la #COP21 #GlobalFrackdown
Note that it’s always good to tag your elected leaders. We will also be tweeting photos that we capture in Paris so if you’d like to see or retweet those, follow @FoodAndWater and @FoodWaterGlobal.
